Career coaching for tech professionals in Australia and New Zealand

Career coaching from the hiring side

in LinkedIn Top Voice

I'm Eli Gunduz. I've spent 13 years recruiting for tech teams across Australia and New Zealand, and I still do it every week. In coaching we look at your situation the way a recruiter would, work out what to change first, and practise it together.

Where people usually start

You don't need to know what's wrong before we talk. These are the situations that come up most on the call.

Applying and hearing nothing

The roles look right, the applications go in, and nothing comes back, so you're guessing at the cause.

Interviews that stop before an offer

You get to the second or final round and it ends there, without feedback you can use.

Not sure what to target next

Several paths could fit, or you're ready for a senior or leadership move and want to make the case properly.

New to the Australian or New Zealand market

Your experience was built somewhere else and you don't know how it's being read here.

What we actually do

Five kinds of work, in the order your situation needs them. Each one changes what the market sees. Between sessions you send drafts and questions in Slack and I reply with comments, so it keeps moving.

01

Your value, in words a recruiter can read

Before we touch a document we work out what you are actually good at and what that is worth to an employer here. Most people cannot say it in two sentences. We get it to two sentences, and everything else is built on them.

“In our one-on-one sessions, he helped me recognise the value I bring and showed me why that value wasn't coming through in my applications.”
Bailey Nepe, November 2025 · on the wall
02

Your CV, built for how it is read

I rebuild it from the top: what a recruiter sees in the first read, what the ATS keeps, what to cut. You watch the score and the search change as we go, on your own CV.

“My resume, which earlier felt like a basic list of roles, was transformed into a powerful, compelling story that actually reflects who I am and the value I bring.”

Comment

This way we undersell what you have done. It's more than just established.

Here is an improved version:

Brought AI-assisted development into the company on my own, defining the spec-driven, test-first practice and agent tooling now used org-wide.

You see the difference?

A real review, with the details changed so nobody is identifiable.
03

LinkedIn, so recruiters find you

Headline, About, experience and the settings the recruiter search runs on, rebuilt against the real search for your target role. Then how to post so the right people see it.

“Eli also pushed me to become much more active on LinkedIn. I was reluctant and honestly somewhat sceptical that it would make much difference, but I followed his advice. Within about a week I was being approached directly about opportunities.”
David Vandenberg, September 2026 · on the wall
04

Interviews, practised on the real role

Mock interviews on the job you are actually going for, behavioural and technical, recorded, with feedback on structure and substance. You go in knowing what the stages are and what each one is testing.

“His interview coaching was clear and precise and has restored my confidence which was pretty shaky after a lot of unanswered resume submissions and a difficult interview experience.”
Isaac Asamoah · on the wall
05

Positioning, and someone in your corner

Knowing your value is one thing. Positioning is aiming it: which roles, which companies, which two things you lead with, and how that changes between the CV, the recruiter call and the final interview. That is the part that carries into the offer conversation.

And I am in it with you. A search wears people down. Part of the work is keeping your confidence intact, telling you honestly when you are ready, and cheering when it lands.

“One of the most valuable insights I gained was learning how to present myself to interviewers in a way that speaks directly to what they're looking for, rather than just talking about my experience.”
Kunal Bawa · on the wall
“It genuinely feels like Eli is in your corner, supporting you every step of the way and fully invested in seeing you succeed.”
Bailey Nepe, November 2025 · on the wall

Who you'd be working with

I've been on the hiring side of ANZ tech for 13 years: agency recruitment for banks and household names, technology consulting, a fast-growing fintech, and now big tech. I started Careersy Coaching in 2021 because I kept watching capable people get cut for reasons nobody explained to them. I still recruit every week, so what I show you is what's happening to applications now, not what happened a decade ago.

More about Eli

Before you book

Is this for me if I'm not job hunting right now?

Yes. Many of the people I talk to are deciding what to aim for next, or preparing for a senior move, rather than applying.

Do I need to be in tech already?

No. Many clients are switching into tech, or coming from adjacent fields such as academia, consulting or product.

What happens on the 15-minute call?

You tell me where things are stuck, I tell you where I'd look first, and we agree a next step. That might be a package, a single session, or nothing yet.

What does it cost?

A single session A$499, Starter A$1,800, Premium A$2,979, all excluding GST. Instalments are available on Starter and Premium and cost a little more than paying once; the totals are shown beside each price.

How are sessions delivered?

Video calls, booked through your coaching portal. Between sessions we work in Slack.

What support do I get between sessions?

On Starter and Premium, six months of Slack access: send drafts, questions and updates and I reply with comments. Premium adds a 10-minute check-in call each week while you are actively job hunting. Every package also includes a private coaching hub in Notion that you keep.

Where does Careersy AI fit?

It's a separate platform for self-directed work. A subscription doesn't include sessions with me. Every coaching package includes a free month of Careersy AI.

What can you honestly promise?

A clearer read on where you stand, a plan you understand, and practice on the parts that matter. I can't promise a role, a salary or a timeframe; hiring decisions are made by employers.

What if I need to reschedule?

Through your portal, with at least 24 hours' notice.
